Another new year, and yet no flying cars.
Of course, flying cars would probably have computers, and the computers would probably have Windows, and that would just lead to problems. A couple of weeks ago the computer stopped recognizing both CD drives, and all of my attempts to fix it have been nil. So that’s bad.
But Christmas was good. Real good. I got Kenzie some good gifts, like perfume and the Oprah 20th anniversary DVD among other things. I got some great clothes, and Kenzie and her family gave me a bike to replace the one that got stolen earlier this Fall. This one is a real doozy, and I’m looking forward to warmer weather when I can tear up the road with it, with Kenzie at my side.
We had a real great work month at the store which makes me very happy, and I’m hoping that continues through January, typically the most dismal of sales months. I’m working on some stuff there as well, probably going to work myself pretty hard through February or so. Of course, if things aren’t more spectacular over the course of those months I’ll be crushed, but hey, at least I’m trying. Trying until I bleed out of my face, but still.
Kenzie finished reading the Book (y’know, that pesky one I wrote), and she liked it, which makes her the first person who’s read it all the way through. Now I have someone I can talk about the whole thing from top to bottom and really figure out what works and what doesn’t. I love her so much and it’s nice to be able to have this to share with her, and she’s amazingly helpful when it comes to suggestions about what works and what doesn’t. I’m trying to focus just on this and not any of the other projects I’ve got brewing because I know that doesn’t help. It just keeps me running all over the place and not really getting anywhere. Now, I’m somewhere, and strangely it feels like I’m a lot closer to “ready” than I was before she finished it. It has a purpose now, it’s not just some big disjointed thing that may or may not work. It works, mostly, and I know what I want to do to make it work all the way. Or at least work enough for me to send to a stranger “Hey, can you give me money for this. Please?”
Kenzie and Allie and I stayed up for New Years, which was really fun, as this was the first time that Allie stayed up all the way to midnight (at least when I had her). Things were tense come 9 or so, as she was cranky and irritable, and when we asked her if she wanted to take a nap or go to bed, she’d snap “No!” She ended up taking a brief one on the chair (a new recliner from Kenzie’s mom and stepdad) and then was rarin’ to go for the rest of the evening.
Aside from blissful romance, holidays and parenting, things that have been keeping me busy have been mostly Grand Theft Auto, specifically Vice City (bought over eBay a couple of months ago and since almost beaten) and San Andreas (borrowed from a friend). Some days I have those nights when I close my eyes and I’m running through a city…pulling a guy out of a car…shooting someone, running someone else over…doing drive bys…all kinds of good stuff.
Kenzie and I’s stories have betrayed us lately, with almost no new episodes or seasons. Lost and Desperate Housewives have been off, Boston Legal we keep missing, Battlestar Galactica comes back this week, 24 isn’t on yet, Rome is done for the season, and the Sopranos is a long way off. The only thing that has kept us going is Project Runway, which is alot of fun, but disappointing lately (Nick is great, Santino is a giant prick).
Most entertaining and most recently I bought myself a sweet new jacket at Express, which is very attractive and probably too expensive. But damn, is it good and do I look good in it. Well, Kenzie thinks so, and that’s the most important thing.
