God, you’ve gotta love infomercals…
When I first started college, every Sunday was Church. Not the lame-ass, get up early in the morning Church, mind you, but evening TV goodness church. Simpsons, X-files, that sort of thing. We called it Church, because on Sunday night, if you were looking for someone, you’d walk around campus trying to run into people and find no one. Where were they? They’d be huddled around the one or two TVs on campus forming some sort of community. It was sweet.
Nowadays I have my own Church evenings: come home from work, make dinner and start watching Simpsons, Sopranos, Deadwood, Home Movies, Harvey Birdman, Aqua Teens, Sealab and then, maybe, bed. We’ll see.
“We did it because we loved making movies. We did it because we loved the process.”
- Home Movies, right now
Ah, it all comes back to that, doesn’t it. I’m chipping away at a couple of projects, yes siree. Things are so goddamn boring around here lately that it almost makes it hard to work…but then again, I guess there’s a little bit of clarity in that.
Ah, fuck, I just realized that I had something that I wanted to write down that I thought of on Friday or so, but I didn’t write it down and now *ffffffttt* it’s gone. C’est la vie.
But seriously, I’m trying. I hate having to plan out what I’m going to do on my days off, but here I am, becoming that guy. A planning guy. I mused the other day that it’s clear that I’ve reached the final larval stage of adulthood because I’ve started drinking my coffee black.
Wheeeeee! I’m indulging in drugs without a net!
Anyway, I preach to you of Church because it’s good. Sopranos is, well, the Sopranos. You just can’t beat that. Deadwood, also on the HBO, is pretty damn tight too. It’s a western (do I have to say that? Is there any way “Deadwood” could be anything but a western?), and it makes me want to ride the range and slap some leather.
Christ, that’s gay. But in a manly, western way. Seriously.
Church going, leather slapping, I remain…
