You know a football game is a savage beating when they start talking about some Pottsville team in Pennsylvania that played back in the twenties. Oy.

Kind of a disappointing night all around. I had kind of missed wrestling while the cable was gone, and now that I had it back…eh. It’s just boring. It’s not like Trek or Buffy or whatnot where I can say “Oh yeah, if they only did this or that it’d be better.” With wrestling…so much of it is so basic and reptilian-brained that it’s hard to quantify problems with it in a way that’s not “It’s just boring, it’s lame, or whatever.” Of course, I find it hard to even use words like “quantify” when watching wrestling, so maybe watching it less is good…

A lot of TV in general is just stupid. I was flipping through last night before bed, and actually found myself stopping on a E! Special that was “It’s good to be…The Hilton Sisters!” How those no-talent, no account drunken whores managed some sort of pseudo-celebrity status is beyond me. The look like fucking heroin-addict piŇatas, and are probably about as smart. And I’m just saying that because I’m jealous of their millions.

I got to see my first SNL of the season (I’m such a junkie) and I really, really liked the new intro (I’m also a weird junkie for a shows new opener, seeing what they’ve changed, all that stuff…I think I got this from watching Buffy, as they changed the intro titles up a little bit each season, and it was fun to se what stuff from the last season they put in). I was also *shudder* impressed by how *twitch* funny Justin…Timberlake was. I mean, I can’t stand his music, and there was no reason for him to get three performances, but his sketch-work was really, really good.

I’ve been trying to figure out exactly what I’m going to watch, I don’t fall into that trap of flipping around channels and then going “Hey, I can watch ‘I Love the 80s’ for the 90th time.’” That way lies madness. It’s much more satisfying watching DS9 tapes, and even Allie likes watching them with me (although her favorite part is the comet, in the opening titles).

She brought me home a picture she drew at school. It has a place of honor on the wall by the computer. Her handwriting is improving a bunch, which is nice. It’s hard to believe she is in the 1st Grade already, and doing so well.

Let’s not spoil this with talk of the writing I’m not doing. Although I had a mini-breakthrough thinking about “Salmagundi” today, so thatís something. There was a nagging little plot point that was getting at me, but I think I at least made it workable enough where I can start working more on it and see what blossoms. Like an onion, dipped in batter and fried.

Yum.

Titular, but not sucky, I remain…
