Stuffed & Satisfied

I had a really good Thanksgiving with the family and my girlfriend, even though travel there was generally exhausting. It was nice to get back into the New York City area and spend some time, although our time on Wednesday was cut short by fog in Chicago keeping all the incoming flights at bay and stranding us at the gate for nearly 7 hours. We’d planned to drop of bags at the hotel and then explore the city (which the girlfriend has never been to) but by the time we arrived we were just exhausted so we ate, washed and slept. However we did get a chance to go into Manhattan again on Friday after spending the holiday with family in Westchester.

Aside from a successful trip there and back the best part of the weekend was seeing MONSTROLOGY get fully funded on Friday night, making my trip home on Saturday infinitely less stressful. I so thankful for all the familiar names on the list and I hope each and every one of you enjoy the stories in it. I’ve been told that it should be going to the printer before the end of the year and hopefully I’ll have copies in hand at C2E2 in April.

Being a part of the Kickstarter was a real eye opener for me. I should be surprised at how much time and energy it took (and I wasn’t even running it!) but with everything that I felt was on the line for me I’m not surprised. It’s been a relatively stressful Fall in my day-job life and I don’t think it’s going to settle down any until the holidays have passed. Now that the MONSTROLOGY is locked down I can return my focus to other things. There’s another comic project I’m taking a stab at but I also know I need to get back into the swing of things on the Winston & Churchill front. I’m a little embarrassed that it’s gotten so far off track but I’m working to correct that. I’m not exactly sure when new stuff will be coming out but hopefully by the end of the month. In the meantime you can read the first Winston & Churchill story NEVER LET GO for free (on Amazon, Smashwords and Goodreads) or pick up SUMMER OF SINS the collection of the first four stories exclusively on Amazon (and free to borrow for Amazon Prime members). There’s also my first novel SHADOW OF THE PAST available on Amazon and Smashwords as well.

In the meantime here’s this week’s Super-Fly Podcast. I wasn’t on it due to holiday travel, but this week the gang has Katie Cook, writer of Dark Horse’s My Little Pony Friendship is Magic comic, returning to the show. Katie’s always a great guest so I’m sure it’ll be a blast. If not, well, I’ll be sure to yell at them next week.

Who am I kidding? I’ll yell at them anyway…

MONSTROLOGY’S Final Weekend

MONSTROLOGY, the horror comic anthology I have my first published comic story in, will end on the 24th, meaning this is our last weekend for one last big fundraising push before we all travel/settle in & have some turkey with our families. Please do what you can to make sure this project hits its funding goal. This is my dream, to have a physical copy of something I’ve written (which I am, in fact, very proud of) and say “I did that. That’s mine.” It’s so much different than just pointing to a link on Amazon or Smashwords and saying “Here’s where you can get a copy of it.” Not that digital is bad, mind you, but to have the artifact in my hand…man, that would be something.

Not to mention it’s a comic story I can use to say “Hey, I’ve written comics. I’d like to write more, like…” That’d be super swell.

Thank you to those that have backed it. Thank you to those on Twitter and Facebook and Tumblr that have liked, shared, retweeted and reblogged it, as well as put up with my incessant chatter about it. This is what I love, this is what I want to do.

Home stretch. Let’s bring it in, people.

MONSTROLOGY news & new Super-Fly Comics podcast

We’re about halfway through the Kickstarter to get MONSTROLOGY published and about halfway funded, so things are looking decent. I’ve had more of an opportunity to see the stories and I’m very happy with them. Lot’s of great stuffy in the tradition of Eerie, Creepy & Tales From the Crypt. Plus that cover by Steve Ellis is just gorgeous! I got to see the original inks for it at NYCC but didn’t get a chance to see how much he was selling it for. I showed him the color version as it’s been my phone’s wallpaper since I saw it. In any case, please consider backing it if you haven’t already. It’s the only way it’s going to see print and that would make me exceptionally happy.

In the meantime, here’s this week’s episode of the Super-Fly Podcast. These come out every Monday & thanks to a new work schedule I’ll most likely have them up each week on Monday. Plus maybe I’ll be blogging a little more. We’ll see. Let’s not get crazy.

The Super-Fly Podcast Episode 124

This week, it’s the monthly Previews Preview show, where we talk about the good, the bad and the bizarre in the Diamond Preview catalog. On top of that, we talk Disney buying Star Wars and the impact it could have on the franchise, Jared and Travis have a Christopher Walken-Off, shouting out Gail Simone for her helping the store last week and more.

The Super-Fly Podcast: Morgan Freeman for Lando in Episode 7

Opening music: Hulk Hogan/Rick Derringer – Real American

Closing music: America the Beautiful
