And we’re back after a brief winter’s nap.
Good holidays, all around. Melissia and I took Allie to go see “A Series of Unfortunate Events” on Christmas Day, which was the first time that I’d ever gone to the movies on Christmas Day, which felt kind of weird. Even better, I got home in time to watch the Lakers/Heat game, which, of course, the Lakers lost. It was the NBA’s Christmas gift to me.
New Years I spent with Kenzie, which was a whole ton of fun. We sort of missed the countdown, mistiming the length of a movie and having it end at 12:04. But the year rolled over without our close personal attention, so that’s good. We also watched all three extended editions of the Lord of the Rings movies, which was pretty damn neat, if not about 12-hours long with a couple of breaks.
So 2004 is over. It was kind of a crazy year. A lot of changes, new faces, old faces coming back and some faces that I wanted to burn from my memory. I had lunch with Jennifer the other day and she told me about how if she knew where she’d be now and what she’d gone through over the course of the year she wouldn’t believe it. I know what she means. You never know what’s going to happen in the future so you can only just keep plugging away in the present with an eye on what you want. I know what I want, where I want to go and who I want to go there with. It’s all you can do.
But in the meantime I’m beat. I’ve been fighting a cold since new years, which just runs me down, so I’ve been tired for what seems like days. I’m trying to work more hours to make up for being on vacation so that’s not helping things either.
I watched the Alias premiere, which was interesting, and I’m looking forward to 24 tomorrow. Battlestar Galactica is apparently happening at some point nearby too, which will be fun. Ostensibly, Tru Calling is coming back soon as well, but I had also heard that it was cancelled, which would be a real shame.
Oh, for shame, my love of TV.
Shameless, I remain…
